John M. Flynn is Professor of Law and Director of the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Clinic & the Elon Law Center for Entrepreneurship at Elon University School of Law, while concurrently serving as a Director at Carruthers & Roth, PA in Greensboro, NC. His dual roles bridge academic instruction in business law with active legal practice specializing in debtor-creditor relations and environmental compliance.
His educational foundation includes a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Wake Forest University, where he also earned his Juris Doctor and served as articles editor for the Wake Forest Law Review. Prior to his current positions, he clerked for U.S. District Judge Hiram H. Ward and held leadership roles including managing director at Carruthers & Roth from 2003-2008.
Professor Flynn’s expertise centers on Business Law with specialized focus in Environmental Law implications for business planning, Creditors' Rights enforcement, Loan Workout structuring, Real Estate transactions, and Entrepreneurship legal frameworks. His client portfolio includes national banks, insurance firms, and institutional lenders navigating complex regulatory landscapes.
