Andy Haile

Andy Haile is a Professor of Law at Elon University School of Law, specializing in business law and taxation. He teaches courses including Property, Business Associations, Federal Income Tax, and Tax Policy Perspectives.

• B.S. in Mathematics from Davidson College (1994)
• J.D. from Stanford Law School (2000), where he was a member of the Stanford Law Review and earned the Order of the Coif.

Haile’s scholarly expertise focuses on business taxation, tax policy, and state and local tax issues. His research also extends to constitutional challenges in e-commerce, gender equity in sports, and renewable energy financing. He has contributed to legislative drafting as a member of the North Carolina General Statutes Commission.

His publications address evolving trends in tax law, including e-commerce taxation, gender equity in athletics, and energy policy. Common themes include the intersection of constitutional principles with modern economic challenges.

Haile previously served as a partner at Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey & Leonard, L.L.P., and as a judicial clerk to Judge Frank W. Bullock, Jr. He co-authored commentary on historical slavery bill transcription initiatives and has supported community legal services through Elon Law’s Small Business & Entrepreneurship Clinic.
