John Lyle

Professor John Lyle is a leading academic in the field of Sport Coaching at Leeds Beckett University's School of Sport. Previously, he served as Dean of the School of Psychology and Sport Sciences at Northumbria University, where he contributed to advancing coach education and policy. He pioneered the first professional diploma and Masters degree in sport coaching in the UK, establishing it as a formal academic discipline. His research focuses on cognitive decision-making in coaches, conceptual frameworks for coaching practice, and the professionalization of sport coaching.
