Julian North is a Professor in Sport Coaching and Director of the Centre for Sport Coaching at Leeds Beckett University's Carnegie School of Sport. With 30 years of experience in social and sport research, he has held key roles at UK Coaching, the Australian Sports Commission, and UK Sport.

Julian conducts long-term ethnographic studies (e.g., kayak slalom, swimming) through an Embedded Relational Emergent (ERE) framework. He has led realist evaluations for coach education programs and maintains strong ties with the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE).
