John L. Carroll

Dr. John L. Carroll serves as Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and Section Chief of the Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Division at Arkansas Children's Hospital, where he provides specialized care for children with complex respiratory conditions including asthma, cystic fibrosis, sleep apnea, and technology-dependent respiratory failure.

His work investigates mechanisms underlying sleep-disordered breathing, chronic lung disease of prematurity, and respiratory care for technology-dependent children, utilizing both clinical studies and animal models to understand intrinsic lung pathologies in genetic disorders.

Analysis of his recent publications (2021-2024) reveals a strong focus on cardiorespiratory monitoring in preterm infants for predicting adverse outcomes like sepsis and respiratory failure, alongside innovative work using mouse models to dissect lung defects in osteogenesis imperfecta and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
