John L. Battelle is an Adjunct Professor and Adjunct Senior Research Scholar at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). He is affiliated with the Data, Media and Society Center. A prominent media entrepreneur, Battelle has founded/co-founded over half a dozen companies including NewCo, Federated Media Publishing, Web 2 Summit, Standard Media International (publisher of The Industry Standard and TheStandard.com), and Wired magazine. He currently serves as a director at LiveRamp (NYSE) and Sovrn Holdings.
- Key Works: Authored the international bestseller The Search: How Google and Its Rivals Rewrote the Rules of Business and Transformed Our Culture (2005), translated into 25+ languages.
