John Keers is a Lecturer in Law at the School of Law, Ulster University, and Director of the Centre for Legal Technology since November 2024. His work focuses on technological innovation in legal practice, particularly AI in judicial systems, online dispute resolution, and ethical LegalTech adoption.
He leads two major projects: the UK AI Security Institute study on Agentic AI in judicial decision-making (the only legal project funded in 2024) and an AI-driven mass case management collaboration with the Labour Relations Agency and a Northern Ireland legal tech start-up. He also serves on the Northern Ireland Judicial Digitisation Steering Group and acts as External Examiner for London South Bank University's law program.

- External roles: Chair of Family Mediation Northern Ireland, Board Trustee at Relate NI, and former Chief Product Officer at Future Horizons (2023-2024)
Scientific awards include:
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy
He designed and launched an LLM program in International Commercial Law and ADR, now delivered in Qatar, and has lectured for 15 years across subjects like Equity & Trusts, Land Law, and Commercial ADR.
