Dr. John Isaacs serves as Dean of the School of Computing at Robert Gordon University (RGU), responsible for strategic leadership of the school's teaching and research activities. Previously, he held academic positions as Senior Lecturer and Course Leader at RGU (2015-2020) and at University of Abertay Dundee (2012-2015).
His research focuses on data visualization and real-time simulation for complex information comprehension, with applications spanning urban regeneration, demographic change, land use management, pollution control, and social media analysis. He has developed interactive visualization platforms enabling user interaction and real-time decision impact assessment. Additionally, he specializes in mobile application development with emphasis on accessibility for older and disabled users.
Dr. Isaacs' technical expertise includes software design and development, custom 3D engine creation, computational modeling, and web/mobile development. He coordinates Schools Honours Projects and Web-Development modules while teaching core programming across all university levels.
