John Huppi serves as Associate Director of Real Estate Development and Professor of Practice at Tulane University. He oversees the Master of Sustainable Real Estate Development (MSRED) program and directs the Real Estate Summer Minor Institute (RESM). His teaching includes courses on sustainable real estate development and urban planning. Huppi holds a B.S. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and an M.S. in Sustainable Real Estate Development from Tulane.
His research interests focus on integrating ecological principles with urban development, particularly in affordable housing and Gulf South regional development. As an active real estate developer, he has managed over 35 properties specializing in tax credit housing and commercial projects. Huppi is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), contributing to urban policy discussions.
