John Gallagher is a Lecturer in Early Modern History at the University of Leeds. Previously held a Research Fellowship in History at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin (undergraduate) and Emmanuel College, Cambridge (postgraduate).
Research focuses on language, migration, education, and identity in early modern Britain/Europe. Current projects include urban multilingualism, teaching/learning methodologies in early modern England, and migration-related multilingualism. Published in Renaissance Quarterly and The Italianist, with upcoming works in Huntington Library Quarterly and Past & Present.
