Prof. John Dumay holds a dual affiliation as a Professor of Accounting and Finance at Macquarie University (Sydney) and a Visiting Fellow at Nyenrode Business University’s Center of Corporate Reporting, Finance & Tax. With over 15 years as an independent business consultant, his career spans academia and industry.
He earned a PhD from Sydney University in 2008, titled "Intellectual Capital in Action: Australian Studies," which won the Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award. His research focuses on corporate reporting, intellectual capital, and public management.
Recognized globally, he ranks among the world’s top 2% scientists (Elsevier/Stanford, 2019–2022) and is Australia’s leading accounting researcher (The Australian, 2020–2023). He has authored/co-authored over 120 peer-reviewed articles in top journals like Accounting Auditing and Accountability Journal and Journal of Business Ethics.
He serves as Associate Editor for Accounting Auditing and Accountability Journal and Meditari Accountancy Research, and Deputy Editor for Accounting & Finance journal.
