Roel Boomsma is a Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Accounting at the University of Sydney Business School since 2014. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Amsterdam Business School, University of Amsterdam. His research focuses on accountability complexities in NGOs, amateur sports organizations, and disruptions in the accounting profession. His work emphasizes qualitative, interdisciplinary approaches and has been recognized with awards such as the 2013 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award.
Boomsma earned his PhD in 2013 from the University of Amsterdam, investigating NGO-government accountability dynamics. He teaches courses in Financial Accounting, Qualitative Research Methods, and Sustainability Accountability. His publications appear in journals like Accounting, Organizations and Society and Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal.
