Professor John Downey is a prominent academic in comparative media analysis and political theology, affiliated with Loughborough University's School of Social Sciences and Humanities. He holds the title of Professor of Comparative Media Analysis and serves as Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for Climate Change and Net Zero. His academic journey includes MA and PhD degrees from Cambridge University, with post-doctoral research at Siegen University in Germany. Current research focuses on media and politics in India, environmental communication, and AI’s impact on cultural industries.
Education: John Downey completed his MA (Cantab) and PhD (Cantab) in Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge. He held scholarships including the Graythorne and Beaumont Scholarships at Jesus College, and was a Senior Scholar at Gonville and Caius College.
Research Interests: His work bridges media studies, political theology, and cultural analysis.
