John Dore

John Dore is a Visiting Associate Professor at the Fenner School of Environment & Society, Australian National University (ANU), specializing in Water Governance. He concurrently serves as Lead Specialist (Climate Resilience & Water Security) for Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), based in Bangkok, focusing on East and South Asia. Previously, he led the IUCN Asia Water Program and the M-POWER governance network. He holds editorial roles at Water Alternatives and is affiliated with the University of Canberra's Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis.

Education includes a PhD from ANU (critical political analysis/deliberative democracy), a Master of Environmental Management and Development (ANU), and a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (University of Melbourne). His research focuses on transboundary governance, deliberative democracy, and water-energy-climate diplomacy, emphasizing inclusive and accountable processes.
