Sara Beavis

Dr. Sara Beavis is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Director of Postgraduate Coursework at the Fenner School of Environment and Society, ANU. She holds a PhD from UNSW and a BA from Macquarie University. Her research focuses on water resource management, environmental geology, and the impacts of land-use changes on ecosystems and communities, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.

Her work addresses extractive industries like artisanal mining in Indonesia and river-rock quarrying in island environments. Key projects include the ARC-funded study on Tibetan Plateau rivers (DP190101253) and UNESCO's climate resilience education initiative. She has led projects funded by DFAT, World Bank, and others, emphasizing gendered impacts of environmental crises.

Dr. Beavis has published extensively on hydrology, geochemistry, and disaster resilience. Her educational contributions include innovative curricula for water management and active-learning frameworks.
