John Baldacchino is a Professor of Arts Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he previously served as Director of the Division of the Arts (2016–2019). His academic career includes roles as Chair of Arts Education at the University of Dundee, Associate Dean & Professor at Falmouth University, and Associate Professor at Columbia University’s Teachers College. Baldacchino’s work bridges art, philosophy, and education, focusing on themes like educational autonomy, critical pedagogy, and Mediterranean aesthetics. He has authored Educing Ivan Illich: Reform, Contingency and Disestablishment and edited The Bloomsbury Handbook of Continental Philosophy of Education.
