Dr. John B. Kaneene is a University Distinguished Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at Michigan State University (MSU) College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) and Director of the Center for Comparative Epidemiology (CCE). With over 40 years of experience, he focuses on zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and One Health initiatives.
- Education: DVM (University of Khartoum, 1971); MPH (University of Minnesota, 1975); PhD (University of Minnesota, 1978)
His research spans epidemiology of food-borne pathogens (Campylobacter, Salmonella, E. coli), bovine tuberculosis, PFAS exposure in companion animals, and disease surveillance at human-livestock-wildlife interfaces. He has trained 39 PhD and 27 MS students globally.
