Johannes DAHM

Johannes DAHM is an Associate Professor (Maître de conférences) at the University of Nantes, Faculty of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Department of German Studies. He specializes in discourse linguistics, cognitive linguistics, and the study of social representations, with particular focus on the perception of German architectural heritage in Central Europe.

His research interests include:

• Discourse linguistics and computer-assisted discourse analysis
• Cognitive linguistics, particularly Frame Semantics
• Social representations from interdisciplinary perspectives
• Representations of the German past in Central Europe, especially regarding Strasbourg's "Neustadt" district
• Perception of architectural heritage from linguistic and cognitive perspectives

Professor Dahm is affiliated with the CRINI Research Center (Identities, Nations and Interculturality, EA 1162) at the University of Nantes, specifically with Axis 2 "Specialized Languages and Cultures." He is also an associate member of LILPA (Linguistics, Languages, Speech, EA 1339) at the University of Strasbourg.

His recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on the linguistic analysis of social representations, particularly regarding urban heritage from the German imperial period in Strasbourg and comparable cities in Central Europe. His work bridges linguistics, urban studies, and historical memory research, examining how architectural spaces are perceived and discussed by contemporary populations.

Professor Dahm has participated in several international research projects, including the PHC 'Polonium' program (2018) comparing Strasbourg and Poznań, and the IDEX 2017 "Université & Cité" project at the University of Strasbourg. He also heads the LEA/ERASMUS exchange program with Trier University in Germany, facilitating student exchanges for L3 and M1 levels.
