Gauthier Bolle

Gauthier Bolle is Professor of Architectural History and Cultures at the National School of Architecture of Strasbourg (ENSAS), University of Strasbourg, and researcher at the ARCHE Research Unit (UR 3400). Holding a doctorate in Art and Architectural History from the University of Strasbourg (2014) and qualification as research supervisor from University of Bordeaux Montaigne (2021), he previously taught at Bordeaux's National School of Architecture and Landscape (2014-2018).

His research examines 20th-century architectural history with focus on modernization processes during France's Trente Glorieuses period. Key areas include:

• European institutional architecture in Strasbourg, Brussels and Luxembourg
• Academic culture and professional networks in architecture
• Post-war reconstruction and housing estates
• Reception of modernism in French architectural practice

Recent publications analyze symbolic dimensions of European capital cities' development and regional architectural practices in Alsace. His 2017 monograph on architect Charles Stoskopf won the 2021 Robert Klein Grant. As editor-in-chief of Les Cahiers de la recherche architecturale, he shapes contemporary architectural historiography.
