Johanne Poudrier is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Infectiology and Immunology at the University of Montreal, affiliated with the CHUM Research Center and IRCM. She holds dual research affiliations and collaborates with Dr. Michel Roger's team and Dr. Falcone's laboratory. Her academic journey includes an M.Sc. from the University of Montreal and a Ph.D. from McGill University, followed by postdoctoral training at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School (London) and Geneva Biomedical Research Institute.
Her research focuses on immunology, virology, and chronic inflammation, specifically examining the impact of B-cell activating factor (BAFF/BLyS) on myeloid compartments and B-lymphocytes in HIV contexts. She investigates dendritic cell interactions, natural immunity mechanisms, and viral resistance pathways using murine models and human specimens.
Recent publications (2016-2019) demonstrate a consistent focus on HIV immunopathology, exploring themes like B-cell biomarkers in high-risk populations, innate immunity correlates, and vaccine design frameworks derived from natural immunity studies. Her work bridges basic immunology with clinical applications in virology.
Dr. Poudrier leads a laboratory team at CHUM Research Center and coordinates with multi-institutional groups like the Montreal Primary HIV Infection Study. She has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications on lymphocyte biology and viral immunology.
