Rahm Gummuluru is a Professor and Vice Chair of Virology, Immunology & Microbiology at Boston University. His research focuses on HIV interactions with myeloid cells, innate immune sensing mechanisms, and nanoparticle-based therapeutics. He holds a B.Sc. from the University of Saskatchewan and a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester School of Medicine.
Research Interests:
- Cell Biology of HIV: Studies viral preservation via CD169+ compartments and transmission to T-cells.
- Innate Immune Sensing: Investigates HIV icRNA detection and MAVS-dependent IFN responses.
- HIV Immunopathogenesis: Explores chronic inflammation and reservoirs in macrophages using iPSC-derived models.
- Nanoparticle Therapeutics: Develops GM3-NPs for targeted drug delivery in collaboration with Dr. Bjoern Reinhard.
