Archie Burnett is Professor of English and Co-director of the Editorial Institute at Boston University. His scholarship centers on textual editing and literary style, with major contributions to Milton, A.E. Housman, and Philip Larkin studies through authoritative scholarly editions.
His publications include critical editions of Housman's poetry (Oxford English Texts, 1997) and letters (2 vols., 2007), a variorum commentary on Milton's 'Samson Agonistes' (2009), and the definitive 'Philip Larkin: The Complete Poems' (2012). Burnett's work combines meticulous archival research with rigorous textual analysis to establish authoritative literary texts.
Burnett teaches courses on the History of the Book and British Literature surveys. His pedagogical approach emphasizes historical context and linguistic analysis, reflecting his commitment to scholarly editing as foundational humanities practice. He is currently editing T.S. Eliot's complete prose.
