Johanna Oksala is the Arthur J. Schmitt Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy at Loyola University Chicago. She holds a PhD from the University of Helsinki and has previously taught at institutions such as the New School for Social Research and the University of Dundee. Her research focuses on political philosophy, feminist philosophy, environmental philosophy, and the work of Foucault and phenomenology. She is the author of six monographs, including *Feminism, Capitalism, and Ecology* (2023), which argues for a radical rethinking of ecological and feminist politics within capitalist systems. Oksala’s work has been translated into ten languages, and she frequently contributes to academic journals and conferences globally.
Her recent publications emphasize interdisciplinary approaches, blending critical theory with analyses of neoliberalism, biopolitics, and climate change. Notable articles include critiques of neoliberal subjectivity and explorations of post-nihilist political strategies in the face of ecological crises. Oksala is also an editorial board member for several journals and has delivered over a hundred invited talks worldwide.
