Joey Cade (she/her) is an Assistant Professor of Practice in Animation & Games at the Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology, University of Texas at Dallas. With a BA in History from UT Austin (1997), she brings over 25 years of experience in producing VFX, animation, live-action, and new media for studios like Disney, Amazon Prime, and Reel FX. Her expertise spans creative development, IP management, and executive producing for projects such as Enchanted, Rise of the Guardians, and Halo 2.
Research focuses on tech-driven content production, studio management, and innovative project development. Active in industry leadership, she serves on the Visual Effects Society (VES) Texas Section Board and mentors indie filmmakers through workshops like her 2025 presentation on affordable VFX techniques for independent productions. Current roles include VFX consulting, original IP production, and academic mentorship of undergraduate students.
