Kai Swanson is an Assistant Professor of Cinema and Television Arts at the School of Communications, Elon University. Based in both Los Angeles and North Carolina, she combines her expertise in independent filmmaking and production with academic instruction.

Her creative work explores formal and playful obfuscations that parallel the erasure of gendered histories. Across diverse formats, including comedic series and feature films, her practice investigates how individual human experiences intersect with collective cultural identities. This research-driven approach aims to forge new relationships with historicity, temporal frameworks, and representations of culture and identity.
