Rebeccah Leiby is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Elon University specializing in political philosophy and ethics, with focused research on societal recovery from mass trauma, moral injury, and transitional justice frameworks. She holds a Ph.D. from Boston University and a Graduate Certificate in Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Studies.
Her publications analyze violence in civic crises, moral responsibility in post-conflict societies, and the role of rage in anti-racist struggles. Recent works appear in Social Philosophy Today and the International Journal of Transitional Justice.
Awards include the inaugural Hoffberger Ethics Fellowship (2022-2023) at the University of Baltimore, where she redesigned ethics curricula. At Elon, she teaches Political Philosophy, Restorative Justice, and Philosophy of Home.
