Dr. Joeri Januarius is the Director of the Center for Industrial Heritage ETWIE, integrated into the Museum of Industry in Ghent, Belgium. He holds a PhD in History with a specialization in mining history and industrial heritage. Previously, he served as a guest lecturer at the Free University of Brussels (2015-2018) and the University of Antwerp (2019).
His research focuses on:
- Industrial heritage preservation and interpretation

- Safeguarding intangible industrial crafts and techniques
- Historical representation through photography
- Industrial tourism development
His publications demonstrate a consistent focus on industrial heritage, mining communities, and preservation methodologies, with recent emphasis on toxic heritage management and craft revitalization. Dr. Januarius holds significant leadership roles as President of TICCIH Belgium and ERIH National Representative. He serves on the editorial board of 'Erfgoed van Industrie en Techniek' journal and oversees ETWIE's initiatives in documenting and preserving Flanders' industrial legacy.
