Joel O'Dorisio is a Teaching Professor and Director of the First Year Program at Bowling Green State University's School of Art. He holds an MFA from Alfred State University School of Ceramics and a BFA from Ohio State University. As Director of the Arts Village learning community, he integrates academic and residential experiences.
His artistic practice explores intersections of natural and built environments through:
- Glass sculpture combining organic textures with architectural forms
- Large-scale installations incorporating digital projections
- Site-specific examinations of cultural tidal zones
- Technological mediations of environmental phenomena
Exhibitions span prestigious institutions including Carnegie Museum of Art, Toledo Museum of Art, and Museum of American Glass. Permanent collections feature his work at Corning Incorporated, Ohio State University College of Medicine, and Lucent Technologies.
Notable recognitions include Top 25 at ArtPrize (2010), multiple Niche Awards, and Best of Show honors at Three Rivers Arts Festival. He has received grants from Ohio Board of Regents and Mid-West Glass Collectors.
