Joe McGrath

Joe McGrath is an Associate Professor at UCD Sutherland School of Law, specializing in financial regulation and white-collar crime. He previously served as Vice Principal for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

Education:

Research examines regulatory architectures for corporate misconduct, individual accountability regimes in finance, and expressive dimensions of white-collar crime governance. His work integrates criminological theory with regulatory studies to analyze enforcement effectiveness.

Publications demonstrate consistent analysis of financial regulation reforms across jurisdictions, particularly examining cultural change mechanisms and limitations of individual accountability regimes. Recent work focuses on ethical professionalization in banking.

Honors include Fulbright Scholarship at UC Berkeley and visiting positions at University of Minnesota Law School, NYU, and Harvard Law School. Teaches banking law, corporate governance, and white-collar crime across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Serves as external examiner for multiple institutions and coordinates professional programs at King's Inns and Institute of Banking. Current projects investigate gender and racial disparities in white-collar enforcement outcomes.
