Joe C. Magee is a Professor of Management and Organizations at New York University Stern School of Business, serving since 2004. He holds the Mary Jacoby Faculty Fellow appointment and is affiliated with NYU’s Psychology Department and Wagner School of Public Service. His research focuses on the psychology of power, social hierarchy, and the social role of emotion. Magee’s work explores how power differences influence cognition, behavior, and organizational dynamics, with notable findings on power’s dual effects on relationships and effectiveness. He teaches advanced organizational behavior, leadership, and power dynamics courses.
Education: Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Stanford University (2004) and A.B. in Psychology from the University of Michigan (1996).
