Jodie Guest is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at Emory University, affiliated with both the Rollins School of Public Health and the School of Medicine. She holds roles including Senior Vice Chair of the Department of Epidemiology, Co-Director of the WHSC Office of Interprofessional Education, and Director of the Science Communication Certificate Program. Her work focuses on infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, and public health preparedness, with a strong emphasis on health disparities and rural health equity.
Dr. Guest received her PhD and MPH from Emory University and her BA from Baylor University. She has led over 40 HIV-related studies and co-founded the HIV Atlanta VA Cohort Study (HAVACS). Her extensive leadership roles include chairing the 2019 National LGBTQ Health Conference and serving on Atlanta's Public Health Advisory Board for monkeypox.
Her research interests span epidemiologic methods, clinical research, and public health leadership. She is actively involved in outbreak response, including leading Emory's efforts in Georgia's Hall County during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Guest has received numerous awards, including the 2023 Kenneth Rothman Career Accomplishment Award and the 2025 Emory Voice for Health Award. She mentors students across multiple disciplines and founded Teen Corp, a medical philanthropy organization.
