Neela Goswami is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health, with a joint appointment in the Infectious Disease Division. She specializes in improving healthcare engagement for HIV-positive populations using systems-based approaches. Her NIH-funded research includes a geospatial initiative targeting underserved HIV communities. She co-leads the Emory Women’s HIV Interagency Study (WIHS), focusing on rural and urban Georgia populations, and co-investigates Project RETAIN, a clinical trial testing navigation interventions for HIV-positive crack cocaine users. She also provides TB care at Fulton County TB Clinic and collaborates with the Georgia Department of Public Health on TB-related public health initiatives, serving on the Atlanta TB Task Force leadership.
Dr. Goswami graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, completed residency and fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, and earned a Master’s in Public Health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Her research interests emphasize HIV care retention, geospatial epidemiology, and TB public health interventions. She has received the NIH K23 award for her geospatial HIV care targeting work. Her clinical and research efforts span infectious disease systems improvement, community-based recruitment strategies, and marginalized population health equity.
