Jodi Thomas is a Researcher at James Cook University, holding a PhD in Natural and Physical Sciences (2018–2022) and prior degrees from the University of Otago. Her work focuses on the neurobiological impacts of climate change, particularly ocean acidification on cephalopods, and molecular mechanisms of sex change in fish. She is affiliated with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies and has contributed to interdisciplinary research bridging neuroscience, zoology, and environmental science.
Education includes a B.Sc. (Hons) in Neuroscience and B.Sc. in Zoology/Neuroscience from the University of Otago, alongside research roles at the University of Otago and James Cook University. Her research investigates how marine organisms adapt to environmental stressors through neuroendocrine and molecular pathways.
Research interests include the intersection of neuroscience and climate change, with emphasis on cephalopod behavior under elevated CO2 levels and the genetic regulation of sex change in teleosts.
