Jochen Buck is a Professor of Pharmacology at Weill Cornell Medical College, where he has held academic roles since 1997. His research focuses on cAMP signaling pathways, particularly the roles of adenylyl cyclases in cellular processes across organisms. He holds an MD and PhD from Eberhard-Karls University (University of Tübingen, Germany), awarded in 1984.
His research spans Bioactive Small Molecules, Rational Drug Design, and Metabolomics, with applications to Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, and Diabetes. Key projects include studies on sperm physiology and the development of male contraceptive methods.
Prof. Buck leads grants funded by the National Institutes of Health, including work on intravaginal rings for herpes prevention and male contraception via ADCY10 inhibition. His lab collaborates with industry partners like Sacyl Pharmaceuticals and MilliporeSigma.
Notable contributions include the purification and cloning of soluble adenylyl cyclase (sAC) with Dr. Lonny Levin’s lab, elucidating its role in cAMP signaling. His work bridges enzymology, pharmacology, and reproductive biology, with implications for drug development and fertility research.
