Joanne Williams

Joanne Williams is the Dean of the College of Management and Human Service and an Associate Professor of Sport Marketing at the University of Southern Maine. She holds academic affiliations with the School of Business, School of Social Work, School of Education and Human Development, and the Muskie School of Public Service. Her expertise spans sport marketing, sponsorship, and outcome assessment in sport management curricula.

Dr. Williams earned a Doctorate of Physical Education (DPE) from Springfield College (1997), a Master of Education (MEd) from Springfield College (1991), and a Bachelor of Education (BEd) from West London Institute of Higher Education (1987). Her research focuses on sport marketing innovations, accreditation frameworks for sport management programs, and educational assessment methodologies.

Prior to joining USM in 2007, she served as faculty and administrator at Nichols College and held industry roles including Tournament Director of the McCalls LPGA Classic. She is an active member of the North American Society for Sport Management and the Sport Marketing Association.
