Dr. Joanne Uniatowski serves as Professor of Voice at the Conservatory of Performing Arts, Baldwin Wallace University, teaching voice, phonetics, English/Italian diction and literature, and vocal pedagogy. She concurrently serves as cantor for the Diocese of Cleveland at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and maintains an active performance career with major orchestras and opera companies across Northeast Ohio.
Her academic background includes:
- D.M.A. from Cleveland Institute of Music
- M.M. from The University of Alabama
- B.M. from University of Akron
- Language Diploma from Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland
Dr. Uniatowski's expertise spans vocal performance practice, voice pedagogy methodologies, liturgical music traditions (particularly Roman Catholic cantoring), and linguistic aspects of vocal repertoire. Her clinical work focuses on training singers for liturgical contexts through specialized master classes, while her performance background informs evidence-based pedagogical approaches to diction and vocal technique across multiple languages.
She has mentored students who achieved professional success on Broadway, network television, and national tours. Previously, Dr. Uniatowski served 15 years as executive director of the Art Song Festival (Cleveland Institute of Music/Baldwin Wallace University collaboration) and held faculty positions at Ashland University and the Cleveland Institute of Music.
