Joanne Chory

Joanne Chory is a Professor and Director of the Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology Laboratory at the Salk Institute, where she holds the Howard H. and Maryam R. Newman Chair in Plant Biology. She is also a distinguished Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Research Interests: Her work focuses on plant molecular and cellular biology, particularly understanding how plants adapt to environmental changes, regulate growth, and interact with light. Her studies bridge genetics, biochemistry, and developmental biology to uncover mechanisms governing plant physiology.
