Joanne Ashworth is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Health & Society, University of Salford. She holds a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography, PGCert in Advanced Medical Imaging, and an MA in Clinical Education. Her career spans clinical practice across NHS sites in the North West of England, with a focus on general radiography, fluoroscopy, and interventional radiology. She transitioned to academia in 2013, specializing in clinical education and radiological reporting skills development. Her research interests include improving patient outcomes, image appraisal, and clinical education methodologies.
As directorate lead for apprenticeships, she supports program development and explores new apprenticeship opportunities. She serves on the University of Salford Programme Approval and Review panel and acts as external examiner for MSc programs in Diagnostic Radiography and Medical Imaging at Trinity College, Dublin. Her recent research emphasizes clinical practices related to nasogastric feeding tube placement and student radiographer training in image appraisal.
