Dr. Joanna Dingwall is a Visiting Lecturer in International Law at the University of Glasgow's School of Law. Her research focuses on international law, particularly maritime law, deep seabed mining, and environmental protection under UNCLOS. She has authored a monograph on corporate actors in deep seabed mining and has contributed to key publications on the legal frameworks governing seabed resources, international investment protection, and maritime disputes.
Her work spans theoretical and applied dimensions of international law, including contributions to policy discussions on benefit-sharing mechanisms, environmental safeguards in resource exploitation, and the role of international arbitration in resolving investment disputes. Dr. Dingwall's expertise also extends to cross-border mediation and the jurisprudence of international tribunals, as evidenced by her analysis of unlawful confinement as a war crime in post-Yugoslav conflict contexts.
Publications reflect her engagement with contemporary challenges in international law, emphasizing the intersection of environmental, economic, and human rights dimensions in global resource governance. Her scholarly output highlights innovative approaches to balancing development imperatives with legal and ethical obligations in maritime and seabed resource management.
