Jo Wilson is an Associate Professor in Commercial Law at the University of Sussex's School of Law, Politics and Sociology. She holds a PhD and LLM from University College London and an LLB from the University of Southampton. Previously a Lecturer at Sussex (2013), she transitioned to education-focused research in 2020.
Her research spans banking regulation, commercial contract law, and legal pedagogy. Current projects explore authentic assessment design, AI in education, and transitions to law school. She co-founded 'Contract Ed Talk'—a national network for contract law academics—and is co-authoring How to Design and Embed Authentic Assessment in Law (2025).
Publications reflect dual expertise:
- Recent works (2021-2025) address pedagogical innovation, including pandemic teaching adaptations and inclusive assessment strategies.
- Earlier scholarship (2012-2019) analyzes banking regulation, cyber risk insurance, and international financial governance.
