Jeanette Ashton

Jeanette Ashton is an Associate Professor (Law) at the School of Law, Politics and Sociology, University of Sussex. She specializes in legal education, employability, and whistleblowing legislation, having co-founded the 'Contract Ed Talk' network and led the Clinical Legal Education StreetLaw programme. Prior to Sussex, she worked at Brighton University (2011-2020).

Her research focuses on employability through co-creation, StreetLaw initiatives, and contract law reforms. She has contributed to the International Journal of Clinical Legal Education and Industrial Law Journal, with recent work on authentic assessment and public interest whistleblowing.

Her 15 most recent publications (2012-2025) span legal education pedagogy, contract law doctrine, and whistleblowing protections. Key awards include being shortlisted for the 2025 Law Teacher of the Year and Lexis Nexis Legal Awards, and winning multiple Sussex Education Awards (2022-2023).
