Jo Loosemore is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Society and Culture at the University of Plymouth, and a Visiting Fellow at the same institution. Her professional expertise spans broadcasting, heritage, and theatre, with significant contributions to radio production, oral history projects, and museum curation. She has collaborated with institutions like the BBC and the British Library, producing works such as World War One at Home and curating exhibitions like Mayflower 400: Legend and Legacy and Wampum: Stories from the Shells of Native America, alongside Wampanoag scholars and educators.
Her teaching includes modules in MA Heritage Theory and Practice, MA Archival Practice, and BA History. Her research interests focus on public history, community engagement, and the intersection of media and cultural heritage.
Notable projects include the Listening Project for BBC Radio 4 and the development of Plymouth’s oral history archive. She maintains a strong profile in project management, audience development, and educational outreach in museum and theatre settings.
