Jo Coghlan is Associate Professor in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at the University of New England, where she co-founded the Popular Culture Research Network (PopCRN). Her research examines representations in popular culture, particularly political fashion, royal iconography, and genre evolution.
Research analyzes how cultural forms mediate political discourse and social identities, with current projects examining crime-romance genres, royal representation in media, and neo-noir film evolution. Recent scholarship investigates authenticity negotiations in historical fiction and political dimensions of sartorial communication.
Publications demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches to cultural analysis, spanning film, literature, fashion, and political performance. Research employs critical frameworks examining gender, power, and historical representation.
