Lisa Hackett is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology and Criminology within the Faculty of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education at the University of New England. She holds a Ph.D. (2020) and MBA (2006) and is a founding member of the Popular Culture Research Network (PopCRN). Her research spans cultural sociology, fashion history, royal semiotics, and crime in popular culture.
Her research explores fashion and uniform in society, royal representations in popular discourse, authenticity in historical romance, and crime genre evolution. She has led multiple Australian Research Council grants on topics including aviation heritage and crime romance novels.
Dr. Hackett has organized numerous PopCRN conferences on themes from Disney's cultural impact to death in popular culture. Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on royal iconography, fashion politics, and cultural memory, with recent work examining coronation rituals and British royal memes.
