Professor Jo-Anne Murray is the Vice-Principal (Education) at the University of Aberdeen, overseeing all aspects of education and the student experience. She holds a Professorial appointment in Educational Innovation and is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Previously, she served as Pro-Vice Chancellor for Digital Transformation at the University of Leeds and held senior roles in digital education at the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. Her research spans educational technology and equine nutrition, with over 130 peer-reviewed publications.
- Education: PhD in Animal Nutrition (University of Wales, Aberystwyth, 2004), MSc in Digital Education (University of Edinburgh, 2012), BSc in Equine Science (University of Wales, Aberystwyth, 1998).
- Research Interests: Virtual worlds, MOOCs, mobile learning, and equine gastrointestinal health. She pioneered the first online Master’s in Animal Nutrition at the University of Glasgow.
- Awards: Fellowship of the Association for Nutrition, Registered Nutritionist, and recognition for teaching excellence.
