Jinhee Kim

Dr. Jinhee Kim is a Professor in the Department of Family Science at the University of Maryland, affiliated with both the School of Public Health and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources through her role as Assistant Director in the University of Maryland Extension. She holds a Ph.D. in Family Resource Management from Virginia Tech (2000). Her research focuses on financial stress, family well-being, health outcomes, workplace financial education, and food security. Dr. Kim has secured over $10 million in external funding and led impactful programs like the Maryland Saves Coalition and National Initiative Management Team for Financial Security in Later Life.

Key contributions include evaluating interventions that improve financial security and family health, with over 60 journal articles and 100+ presentations. Awards include the 2004 Outstanding Educational Program (as team member) and ADEC Honorable Mention. Her work bridges financial behavior, health, and policy, emphasizing marginalized groups such as low-income families and immigrants.
