Kim L. Niewolny is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education at Virginia Tech. She serves as the founding director of the Center for Food Systems and Community Transformation, focusing on sustainable food systems and community development through interdisciplinary and critical social theory approaches.

Scientific awards include the 2023 Excellence in Instructure Award (AFHVS), 2021 Project of Excellence (USDA-NIFA), and multiple university-level accolades. She also serves on editorial boards and has led community-university partnerships globally.
