Jing Pan is an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), affiliated with the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Her academic background includes a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology from Cornell University (2004) and a BS in Biochemistry from Nankai University, China. Her research focuses on meiotic recombination mechanisms in budding yeast and mice, miRNA regulation of cell polarization in mammalian cells, and the mitotic spindle checkpoint in yeast. She teaches courses such as Biochemistry Laboratory, Genes to Genomes, and RNA World.
Her notable scientific contributions include studies on ATM's role in meiotic DNA break formation (Nature, 2011) and hierarchical factors shaping yeast recombination landscapes (Cell, 2011). She has received awards including the NIH Cancer Center Postdoctoral Training Grant and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Postdoctoral Fellowship. Her work bridges molecular genetics, cell biology, and developmental biology with applications in understanding genomic stability and cellular mechanisms.
