Jimmy Kuehnle

Jimmy Kuehnle is Professor of Sculpture + Expanded Media at the Cleveland Institute of Art, where he contributes to both teaching and artistic innovation within the College of Art and Design. His work bridges traditional sculptural practices with new media and interactive technologies.

His research and artistic practice focus on interactive inflatable installations, public art, and expanded media, often engaging audiences through kinetic, large-scale, site-specific works. Exhibitions such as Wiggle, Giggle, Jiggle at the Akron Art Museum and Wow, Pop, Bliss at the Columbia Museum of Art highlight his innovative use of form, light, and participation. His work has been featured in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Artnet, and Hyperallergic, and included in Phaidon's Bubbletecture: Inflatable Architecture and Design.

Kuehnle’s artistic output reflects a strong trend in merging art with architecture, technology, and public engagement, particularly through inflatables and LED light sculptures, as seen in projects for BLINK 2019 and the Balloon Museum in Barcelona.
