Dr. Jimena Rodriguez-Zarate is a researcher affiliated with Flinders University's Molecular Ecology Lab. Her work bridges biological, ecological, and genetic data to study marine turtle conservation, particularly focusing on olive ridley turtles in the Eastern Pacific.
Her research integrates
- Ecology
- Population genetics
- Wildlife conservation
- Marine biology
- Genetic connectivity
- Oceanographic influences on species
The analysis of her publications reveals a focus on genetic diversity of threatened species (2011), retroviral distribution in crocodilians (2009), and habitat characterization of sea turtles (2004, 2007). These works span molecular ecology, marine conservation, and human impact assessment.
With 10+ years of fieldwork across Latin America, she has conducted research on leatherback turtles in Costa Rica, marine turtles in Colombia, and river dolphins in the Orinoco River Basin. Her expertise includes integrating genetic data into conservation practices and understanding community roles in environmental management.
